FAUN TRACKWAY LIMITED GRANTED FIT FOR NUCLEAR (F4N)
We are delighted to confirm our expansion into the nuclear sector, after securing Fit For Nuclear (F4N) status.
The granting recognises our business’ skills and expertise, and demonstrates that operations within our factory in Llangefni meet the strict standards required by the industry.
Historically, our skills in design, fabrication, welding and painting converted to highly complex and bespoke projects that included; bridges, torpedo boats, half track land rovers, aviation, aerial masts and London buses.
Over time, our skills have developed the signature Trackway® product range, comprising of portable roadways, expedient runway helipads and marine access solutions, which continue to be used in military and civilian applications worldwide, where the ground conditions are extremely poor.
With over 75 years’ of providing World class solutions, our team of technical, design and manufacturing engineers continue to further support engineering and manufacturing requirements for industrial and commercial use.
Run by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC), the unique F4N service helps members secure work in the nuclear supply chain by confirming their suitability as potential suppliers by measuring their operations against the standards required to supply in new build, operations and decommissioning within the industry.
Our Chris Kendall, CEO, commented: “As part of our strategic plan we decided to target the Nuclear industry following much research and discussion. Our team have been working hard to make the necessary changes since we became involved with the F4N programme six months ago. We are delighted to have been granted F4N status, particularly in this short timeframe - our procedures, systems, methods and culture are now geared to take the next step in our new chapter at FAUN Trackway Limited and further support the future of British Engineering”.
Gareth Williams, Engineering Manager, commented: “Having been chosen for funding by the Welsh Government to pursue our F4N application, we are extremely grateful for the support they have shown us over the last few months. The Welsh Government F4N programme enables Welsh companies alike to apply for the F4N status fully funded, and we look forward to working in partnership with other selected Welsh companies as we diversify into Nuclear and supporting industries. The process has been an interesting one, and we fully appreciate the guidance given by the team at Nuclear AMRC”.
The F4N status is the latest success for FAUN Trackway® as last year we successfully transitioned to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, and achieved BS EN 1090 Exc 2 accreditation in 2015.
F4N is open to companies with ten or more staff with a turnover in excess of £1.6 million and its members range from established suppliers to those taking initial steps into the sector. The Nuclear AMRC is a collaboration of academic and industrial partners, owned by Sheffield University and based on the city’s Advanced Manufacturing Park.
